Our story

Milestones in our journey

  1. A community vision becomes an institute

The Youth Leadership and Skills Training Institute was established through a collaboration between World Vision Ghana, the Ahanta West District Assembly and the Abura Community.

  2. Public management begins

A Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Ghana transferred management to the National Youth Council, now known as the Youth Employment Agency.

Public accountability

Governance and accreditation

Abura Technical Institute operates under the Ghana TVET Service of the Ministry of Education. The Principal is supported by the School Administrator, Heads of Department, teaching staff, and administrative and support staff.

Programmes are accredited by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training and aligned with Ghana's National TVET Qualification Framework. Short-term proficiency training is delivered through the National Vocational Training Institute framework.

Stronger together

Partnerships that have shaped our journey

Our development has been supported by World Vision Ghana, the Ahanta West District Assembly, the Abura Community, the Government of Ghana, the Youth Employment Agency, Ghana TVET Service, CTVET and NVTI.

Through the SEE Project, VIS Ghana and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation are supporting ICT equipment, institutional digital visibility, and digital-skills development for staff and students.

Beyond the workshop

Student life and community

Learning extends beyond classrooms and workshops through inter-house and inter-school sports, debate competitions, the school choir, campus worship, the cadet corps, Independence Day parade activities and educational entertainment nights.

These activities help learners build teamwork, leadership, discipline and character alongside their technical competence.
